Blinded by Project 62

Project '62 posted a 09 Topps Update Gold Crawford and naturally I inquired about a trade for some Rynos. He said he was putting together a package and would send it out and we would do a blind trade. I thought cool, can't wait. Well yesterday it showed up and it blew me away.

First he gave me some amazing set help, 11 cards for my 09 Topps Chrome. Taking me from less than twenty to less than 10. Thank you so very very much. It was very unexpected surprise.

Some Red Sox love with Lowell, Ortiz, Pedroia, and Beckett
Great collection of players with Wright, Upton, McCann, and Billingsly
and two promising rookies with Bailey and Snider

He then added two cards for my 08 Heritage set - one a Ray and one a good pitcher with the potential to become a great pitcher over his career. I'm definitely a fan of both Edwin and Verlander. Thanks again.

Then he added some incredible cards for player collections

First up, Lonogoria - a chrome refractor - WOW! shiny :)
and then my first 09 T-206 card of the year and boy what a start
a bronze card - Super WOW 8)
the back of the card talks about golf - strange
but I love it and hadn't seen it before
THANK YOU!

Then the card that prompted this encounter
09 Crawford Gold highlight - so pretty
he even added a CC Turkey i needed - great card
an 03 Ichiro 205 card - sweet
a Ryan insert - very sweet photo
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!

then he sent me some Rynos
the Masterpiece is awesome
and two other needed Rynos

such an amazing Package
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!

This Week in Cardboarding

Welcome to This Week in Cardboarding. This week I will be continuing with the 2008 Heritage hobby box. This week I will be going down the middle row of packs, top to bottom. Here is what I got:

Pack9

wandy, galarraga, wiggington set help
matthews insert

Pack 10

hunter, pena jones, garza set help
insert - i am not a fan of non baseball inserts in baseball products

Pack 11

giants and gordon set help

Pack 12

kemp chrome
braun, combo, rowand set help

Pack 13

combo, hudson, carpenter, white sox set help

Pack 14

ichiro - yeah! now i have one for my pc and set
fuld, mora, sanchez, gagne set help

Pack 15

mike baxes auto - i dont get this, he only played two mlb seasons, why is he a hit card
morneau, marquis, drew, jennings set help

Pack 16

kendrick, lucy, gutierrez, banks set help

Well eight more packs down and some much needed set help. A really weak hit card if you can call it that. No offense meant toward Mr. Baxes, he got to play in the majors. Which is more than I have ever done in baseball. I looked him up and he didn't do anything worthy of including him in product 50 years after he played. Maybe I missed something but I didn't find anything on him that made me say wow I learned something or that was neat or I'm glad I got this card. If I'm wrong on Mr. Baxes, please let me know.

Also included in hobby boxes are panels - another thing I don't understand.
The Panel

This Week in Cardboarding

Welcome to This Week in Cardboarding. This week I went with a hobby box of 2008 Heritage. The 1959 set design, is my favorite that Topps has ever made. I do like a lot of years but this is just my personal fav. The main aspects I like of the design is the circle inside the rectangle card, which gives the feeling that the players are in a spotlight and I love that the type is all lower case. I needed a lot for my set and wanted a little change from chrome. Of course, this was way over budget. So this will be broken up into three weeks to cover my budget. I was a little lucky that there were 24 packs, so dividing the box up works out perfect. My first week of the box will be the left side packs from top to bottom. Here's what I got:

Pack 1

My first All Star card with Beckett and I like
wolf, rios, stewart, and beckett set help

Pack 2

WOW two packs in and I scored a Hanley Refractor
very nice combo card with diceK and beckett also set help with gwynn

Pack 3

A Ray, YEAH!! and New Age insert
crawford,lee,schilling,combo set help

Pack 4

Nice collection of guys
everyone but mccann and sizemore were set help

Pack 5

Then and Now insert
lackey,vizquel,rollins,murphy,estrada set help

Pack 6

30-30 Man Kinsler and Zimmerman finally doing what everyone expected
Maine Chrome - Any Mets fans want this?
zim,mags,carlyle,edmonds,duhram set help

Pack 7

Lind and Bartlett both had an insane year
contreras,bannister set help

Pack 8

Nice collection of guys on the bottom row
manny,edgar,lo duca set help

Well just buying a box for set building definitely gave me a much more relaxed feel while opening packs. When opening the chrome I am hoping for McCutchen or Longoria Xfactor the whole time but this was nice. Looking at cards, seeing which ones I need and just going slowly pack by pack. Very pleasant experience. Scored two chrome cards Hanley and Maine and just three inserts, I think the blasters I bought last year had more inserts in them. So far so good with what I got in this box. Thanks again for checking out This Week in Cardboarding.

2008 Topps Heritage Needs

I love this set and looked forward to it for two years when I first bought some heritage and realized the 1959 set was just two years from being released. The 59 Topps style is my favorite Topps design ever.

My needs list is a dozy, I need a lot, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not concerned with a normal or black variant just so I get one of each card in the set. There is no difference to me that the back of the card has black ink instead of green ink. Right now I have my black backs mixed together and I am still missing a bunch. I'm trying for the whole set 1-720 so I do need SPs. Thanks chris OK
